Khar is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). Khar is dedicated to support people in identifying and reaching their greatest self-worth and confidence, through the use of a holistic approach to care. Khar is committed to using effective skills through evidence-based practice and promotes allyship, mutual respect, and self-reflexivity. Khar’s philosophy of practice is to ensure the culturally-sensitive needs of people are catered to, and she makes an intentional effort to be cognizant of the implications that systemic issues have on people experiencing oppression and adversity.

Khar has held various positions within educational, clinical, and community settings. Khar has worked within several diverse communities and continues to support people in exploring how their intersectional identities affect them and impact their mental health and wellness. Khar incorporates her training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness, while using a strengths-based and biopsychosocial-spiritual model of support.

Education and Certifications


Khar completed her Master of Social Work at York University. Khar also holds an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto (Major: Neuroscience, Double Minor: Psychology and Health Studies), a Bachelor of Social Work, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health. Khar has over 9 years of social services experience and has completed formal training in CBT and DBT, in addition CBT-E for eating disorders therapy, and family-based therapy. Khar has taken many workshops in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), is ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) certified, and regularly engages in professional development courses and training opportunities to provide up-to-date and evidence-based services.
